We currently have an exciting vacancy for a Digital Learning Officer to join our Conservation Education and Engagement team on a temporary basis, to cover a period of maternity leave.
Our Digital Learning Officer works collaboratively to support the development of digital learning outputs across all aspects of the conservation education and engagement team’s work. In particular they:
Create and commission a range of digitally based learning assets and projects, including games, immersive and interactive projections, short films and learning resources in different formats.
Create video and AV content for use in online learning resources, educational displays and in the delivery of workshops.
Manage our interactions with educators through dedicated social media channels – particularly Twitter and FaceBook.
Work with education colleagues and our marketing team to maintain and develop the education sections of the zoo website, in particular developing the Support for Educators, online learning resources platform and education news sections.
Support the wider team to integrate learning technologies into their teaching and engagements with our visitors and communities, including supporting our new virtual workshop programme.
Successful candidates will have:
Substantial experience developing creative media content (film, podcasts, websites and interactive resources) for learning use, ideally for a similar environment such as a zoo, aquarium, museum or gallery.
Experience managing social media channels and using them to communicate with specific audience groups.
Experience working collaboratively within organisational teams and with external partners, in particular working with educators and creative practitioners from a variety of disciplines.
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and a wide range of software and hardware used to create and deliver learning, in particular timeline editing software.
Ability to create compelling film content for educational use.
Demonstrable knowledge of copyright, data protection, safeguarding and other legislation/guidance relevant to the creation of digital content for learning.
Excellent attention to detail, and experience of proof-reading and copy-editing.
Experience leading and managing small projects.
Creative thinker, with proven ability to deliver imaginative and innovative projects that achieve set objectives.
Excellent time management, administration and planning skills. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, meeting deadlines and ensuring appropriate quality control.
Excellent diplomacy and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively under own initiative and as part of a team and to work under pressure with positive attitude.
A qualification relevant to digital technologies, film and AV is desirable, as is some experience working with immersive environments, 360 degree projection and wordpress. Our ideal candidate would also have some knowledge of conservation, zoology and/or environmental sustainability and/or experience working with the education sector.
Hours of work are 32 hours per week, worked flexibly Monday to Friday, with the occasional need for weekend and evening working to meet the needs of department for which time off in lieu will be given.
The salary for this position is £21,213.36 per annum (based on 32 hours
