About the Team The Transformation Programme (Accelerate O2) has been given the role of delivering a major transformation across O2 over the next two years. The Design Authority team has recently been establish in order to support total quality; to ensure the business understands and agrees to the expected end to end experience underpinned by the components of design, e.g. technology, process etc.
The purpose is to reduce or eliminate any gaps or omissions linked to design and ensure business design integrity and robustness within the given timelines. This is a fundamental part of the programme and is critical to ensuring that the business is equipped to achieve the company’s strategy over the next several years. About the Role The Design Assurance Manager will support the Design Assurance Lead in delivering key assurance activities for the AO2 programme. The assurance approach covers a broad range of subjects such as Legal and Compliance, Customer Experience, Quality Management, Service Design, Testing, and Business Readiness
They will be required to build excellent networks within a large programme and the wider business at varying levels of the organisation including at board level, in order to obtain any relevant information and build a collaborative environment.
They will be primarily focussed on providing coordination and project management support for the validation process of the AO2 Designs. This will involve reviewing the existing mechanisms in place, understanding pain points and areas for improvement. They will be accountable for delivering a plan for validation of the core AO2 blueprint to ensure functional compliance. This will require managing a large number of stakeholders and design squads, ensuring a robust plan is made and not delivered to a challenging timescale.
They will need to drive resolutions of any gaps identified, working with a wide range of stakeholders to triage the severity of the issue and gain an agreed resolution.
They will be responsible for scheduling and chairing validation sessions, ensuring all risks issues and dependencies are captured. Taking thorough and accurate notes, and ensuring actions are distributed quickly and followed up. The ability to secure the relevant attendees in a programme with numerous priorities and tight deadlines is crucial.
They will need to be able to quickly write presentations to articulate key information in a format appropriate for senior management. They will also need to be confident in escalating risks to the plan at a senior level, driving for resolutions.
Going forward the role will expand to support the outputs from the testing of the design, triaging defects to assess the impact on the design, and working with the relevant parties to agree resolution, following a similar approach to the design gap resolution. Key Responsibilities You will own the validation schedule for the relevant workstreams such as GCO, Testing, Service Design etc.
You will be responsible for planning and executing the validation over multiple concurrent releases.
You will need to be tenacious in driving attendance where key stakeholders are rarely available.
You will be required to schedule and chair validation sessions. Delivering written notes / actions / risks, issues / and document sign off in an organised and thorough manner, in order to be prepared for any future audits.
You will work with the wider programme team, including other Design Assurance resources to ensure the AO2 design is functionally compliant.
You will provide support to the business leads and design squads to resolve conflicts and remove blockers. Identifying issues and managing through to resolution with challenging timescales and stakeholders. Where issues cannot be resolved, you will be required to raise the issue to the relevant part of the programme, ensuring all impacted parties are aware and expectations are adequately managed at a senior level
You will create and maintain reports showing design validation progress. Ability to quickly produce reports and updates on progress suitable for senior stakeholders.
You will document owner for key assurance logs / RAID documents / playbooks / document sign off etc.
Key Skills/Experience Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, strong collaboration, partnership and influencing skills
Strong organisational skills, ability to work to a deadline and ensure relevant reports and documentation are produced to schedule. Attention to detail and accuracy in work essential.
Excellent planning skills, ability to manage a tight delivery plan and adapt to unforeseen issues.
Tenacious in getting the right peoples time to deliver core compliance activities, ability to challenge push backs but also to compromise where necessary.
Confident in chairing meetings with all levels of seniority and able to tailor the content as appropriate for the audience. Ensuring issues raised are addressed in a thorough and timely manner, building trust and a strong reputation for the value driven by the team.
Experience in project / programme management, ideally in a fast past, multiple release project / programme.
